  1. where i live you are entitled to one free shot and if you pot a ball you carry on until you miss a ball and then you start  again ie first visit until you miss then second visit

the rules above are the national rules for competion play.

in the circumstances you state yes he still has another shot

life lov we are in the UK SO THE AMERICAN RULES DONT APPLY so you can have as many qualifications as you want but they dont count in the UK

  2. This only applies if you play national rules but playing international rules states that as long as you pot a ball you may carry on until you miss, than your opponent will than come to the table.

  3. like vegas matt said above, don't get mixed up with eight ball pool on a proper pool table, where any foul is just ball in hand anywhere and no free shots.

in england we have the small game in the pubs eight ball where there are a variety of rule variations, but in general ball in hand behind the headstring and ONE free shot. sometimes you have to play down the table also.

  4. You are the second person posting a question about this.  Where I live (in Canada) if your opponent fouls you get one ball in hand.  Never heard of that two shot rule but it sure would come in handy during some of my matches against better players!!

  5. Unless you are playing a game I'm unfamiliar with, 8-ball rules state - 'one foul- one ball-in-hand to your opponent'.

Two fouls on the same shot (you hit opponent's ball first and the cue ball proceeds to drop into a pocket) still only 'one' ball-in-hand to your opponent.

Opponent shoots until he misses. Does not get a second foul shot.

  6. yes

  7. please clearify what game and where you are in ur question as rules are different for different games and in different parts of the world

  8. I don't play much anymore..

No one here to play with..

    BUT

    you make an error..

    MY turn..

sissys set the rules to get 2.

ON  TV 9 ball is set for cue balls errors only  ???

but there is a time limit.

    my error OK

    you double up NO way..

So make the rules are clear First..

  9. no that would be his second shot therefore must keep potting balls

  10. No.  If a player fails to pot on their first go after a foul, that is the only time they get to use the second shot.

  11. The opponent is due ONE ball in hand when a player fouls. There is almost never an instance when a player receives two free shots. The ball in hand offers you one chance to pocket a ball or consequently run the table. Your turn is over when you fail to pocket a ball, commit a foul, or end the game.

The only instance I know of that a player receives two ball in hands is in a case where a tournament director awards a ball in hand for an original foul and then grants a second ball in hand because of a sportsmanship foul on the other player. Once again, that is very rare.

I'm siting rules and circumstances of the APA Pool League.

  12. Yes, if your playing two shots carry. From my experience 2 shots carry is a regional thing.

  13. yup

  14. Where are all these questions about 2 free shots after a foul is committed?  I would only give someone under the age of 5 more then 1 shot.  lol  I do realize that everyone has to learn rules somehow, but I just hope that there aren't people out there telling folks this is how pool is played.  BALL IN HAND PEOPLE!!!  Keep rackn em up!
