Question about safety stirrup bars on english saddles?

How come the stirrups come off the stirrup bar if you are getting dragged by a horse, but you can jump with them and they won't slide off when your leg goes back?

Well when you wre jumping you arn't using as much force. Also if you are being dragged by a horse, they don't always come off. If you want to be safe you can use safty stirrups, which have a bend in so when you fall off you foot falls out, or peacocks i think they call them- whitch have elastic on one side, which snaps when you fall off. I have safety stiffups, and havn't needed them yet--- -YET- lol
