I have sold a couple of things on ebay and a couple of family members and friends had asked if i would sell for them. I know that Ebay stores use to be big like in the movie the 40 yr old. I need to know what would be a good price to charge for my service on selling. And if there is anything that I should be aware of, because I am thinking about starting my own business selling stuff for others.

  1. That's a good idea you have there. I have just read about the eBay trading assistant program. If you want to sell items for others, you may want to become a Trading assistant for them.

Trading assistants usually charge a certain percentage of the item price that they are selling for another member. If you're the one who's going to pay for the Final Value Fee, then that charge should cover all the fees you'll incur in listing the items. You must also think of the overhead you might incur during the listing like handling, creating the listing itself, the time you put into each listing you're creating... You'll earn a lot here if you can manage your sales with your clients.  ^_^

I heard there are trading assistants who charge from 25% - 50% depending on the face value of the item they're listing.

  2. I have used a trading assistant and to sell my wiis and Nokia N95 phones.  I pay her 10% plus all related costs.

The one thing I would like to point out is this works well for people whom don't have enough product to advertise multipal items at once..or whom can't use the buy now button.

I works out great for both of us.  She makes money, I make money, without having to waste the time.

We came up with a solution.  I send her the ads I want to use, answer the questions just for her using her points to advertise for me what a great deal.

  3. We charge fifty percent of the final sale to our consignment clients. We pay the fees, and prepare the items for auction.

  4. i reckon 5% of the total selling price for things over 300 dollars and 10% of the total for things under 300dollars sounds fair

  5. You would want to take half.

Most eBay consignment stores have lengthy contracts.  They require the owner of the property to pay all fees, bring and leave the item with you, agree not to be paid for 30 days (to allow for returns), etc.  Such stores generally require that any item they list to be worth at least $50.
