Question:

Question about septic system inspection

We are in the process of buying a foreclosed home with a septic system that either needs replaced or repaired. I called the county health department and they told me that they can inspect it or one of the local septic contractors can as well. I like the idea of having the health department check it out and make a recommendation, so I can shop the contractors instead of trying to go to the contractor directly. Is that a wise approach?

  1. Definitely!!!!

  2. I would have a plumber inspect it and all the other plumbing in the home as well. This may cost you more money but if the septic tank needs to be replaced the plumber will know who to go to for the best price and if not he will know where to get the best price for cleaning and repairs. The health dept. will only instruct to replace or not.
