Im 13, and for as long as i can remember my parents have smoked around me.

in the car i get so pissed off i yell at my mom to throw that F'ing smoke out the window she says "yeah i know sorry.. its like all the way out the window" but i can still smell it. my stumach gets sick when i smell it and i can hardly breathe.

she doesnt understand how much it pisses me off. its bad enough that she does it but its even worse that i have to smell it every time i get in the car or am around her for more than an hour.

what can i say to my mom? ive tried telling her to quit and she always says she will but she never does.

any ideas? thanks.

  1. So I know this is going to be hard, but this is what I did.

So my dad used to smoke like crazy and always said he would quit but never did. And one day when he was smoking I got so angry with him that I took one of his cigarettes and lit it up and smoked it right in front of him.

That scared him to death, and he quit right after that.

Parent's always want their kids to make better choices than they did. And it kills to see their 13 year old daughter to be smoking right in front of their eyes. It will be a wake up call.

They know its bad for them, they know they should quit, but nothing is going to push them far enough to quit than something drastically happen right in front of them.

    good luck and stay healthy!!!

  2. say "mom, it's my life or the cigarette, you decide."

secondhand smoke is just as bad.

  3. Your mom can smoke in the car if she wants.  Get over it.

  4. i feel sorry for you theres not alot you can do, my mum smokes and i hated it when i lived with her but its her house and she probably wont give up if you ask her 2, just try and politely ask her if she wouldnt smoke around you tell her how much you hate it good luck take care x

  5. From my experience the more you push a smoker to quit the less likely they are able to do it.  I would suggest getting hold of some things that could help her quit and just letting her know.  Rather than shouting just get some nicotine patches and some leaflets about the health issues and just say it would mean alot to you if she at least tried to cut down.

Getting upset usually works better.  Good luck.

  6. At least she rolls down the windows. Both of my parents smoked like chimneys and they didn't even roll down the windows! I used to get out and throw up.
