Question about social services involved with old people?

I went doctors to arrange for social services to visit my Dad or for them to get involved to help him with stuff as I dont live with my Father. My question is, will the social services contact me first or just contact my father directly? does anyone know how this works exactly and how long it takes before they will get in touch?

They will do an needs assessment. You will be contacted in due time as well as other family members neighbours and friends of your dad.

If i were you i would phone social services and ask. if you have as much luck as we did when we needed help with my mother in law, you will wait a ling time.  Her own doctor and the doctor at the hospital where she was regularly admitted all said she needed help at home and would arrange it. She never got any help at all, no one contacted either her or us, in spite of us phoning. She died without an ounce of home help.
