Right now I have 39 cents stamps. The cost went up to 41 cents per ounce for envelopes. Will the post office accept my envelope if I put two 39 cent stamps on my envelope? Or will they only accept 41 cent stamps... Help Please

Im mailing an average sized envelope that weighs one ounce.

  1. The post office will accept an envelope that has two 39 cent stamps.  However, you'll be wasting 37 cents every time you use two stamps.  The nice thing about the post office is that it will accept all uncancelled stamps it has issued, regardless of age, at face value.  So, if you had a 2 cent stamp from 1901, you could put it on with a 39 cent stamp and the post office would accept it.  You can get some 2 cent stamps, though.  Either ask for them at the post office, or leave a note with enough money to cover them in an envelope in your mailbox.
