Question:

Question about street bikes.?

Ok, I've been researching what the best street bike for me would be.

I've narrowed it down to the Honda CBR , the Suzuki GSXR/Hyabusa, and the Kawasaki Ninja. I haven't decided what CC I'll get.

I'm 6'3 and weight 230. I mostly want this bike for fun (Speed and looks). I'm an adrenaline junkie, so I'd like some serious speed. I've got 8k to spend and I can finance more, however, I'd like to keep it closer to 8k and under if it's possible.

What would be the best bang for my buck? Also where's some good places around the central Alabama zone to look? I know of a few dealerships and private sellers, but word of mouth is always better than any advertising...

Oh, this will also be my first bike. I'll be having a few friends that are experienced riders instructing me on everything, so I don't know if it matters that much. I have a car to drive until I'm ready on the bike. Just thought I'd throw that in.

Thanks!

  1. Start small, work your way up. Take the class. Doesn't matter where you live, the traffic, etc.

  2. take the advice of ....Lover not a fighter.....Award him the 10 points...Nothing but good sound advice here and nothing more to add...

  3. get Busa.

nothing faster than that on the road :D

  4. you should get a gsxr 600 or 750

  5. Sorry, but this doesn't sound like a good idea to me.  The bikes you mention should only be ridden by more experienced riders.  Start smaller, get a used bike.  That way, when you lay it down, you won't lose as much money.  Adrenaline junkie + inexperience = road rash and worse.

    Good luck.

  6. >> Oh, this will also be my first bike.

    >> I'm an adrenaline junkie,

    >> Suzuki GSXR/Hyabusa,

WOW.  Those are 3 bad combo.  A bike is NOT a toy.  An accident here could mean death or life long mutilation.

I am also a adrenaline junky.  But when it comes to motorcycle, I turn that off and go into SAFE mode.  The death rate is about 25x to 30x higher than in cars.  That is higher than sky diving, and bungee jumping.

    >> I'll be having a few friends that are experienced riders instructing me on everything,

That could be good or bad.  If they have good habit then good. If they have bad habit then REALLY bad.

    find and take MSF course:

Begin with a BEGINNER BIKE (250cc class).  That means something small and easy to ride, and cheap so you don't mind dropping it few times.

    Good luck...

  7. Those are all good bikes.. I wouldn't recomment the Hayabusa or anything over 600/636 to start with. I bought a Yamaha FZR 600 which was more than enough. If I was you i'd deffinetly get a Kawasaky Ninja 6R (636). Those thing are really fast and you'll be happy that you spent the money on it later on. I think that's really dumb that people say" you should start with a 250cc" ..haha it's just a waste of money. Get a good bike that fits you right just one thing. Practice, practice and practice. Don't be a hero and drive safe .. At least for the first year untill you get some experience.

    Peace

  8. You're on a fast line to a casket.  A week or more of playing around isn't near enough experience.  Your attitude is all wrong.  You said that you wanted to go fast, and you're worried how you look.  Those are two of the main ingredients for getting hurt.  Your trying to keep up with your experienced friends will get you hurt.

  9. for your size the bigger the bike is the easier it will be for you to handle. just keep in mind that there is alot of horsepower between your legs and it could kill you if you get to crazy before your experienced

  10. Well a ZX-14 is the fastest out there and Kawasaki's are more forgiving than Suzuki's and more comfortable. I would go with the Kawasaki, most of the people that are always screaming Busa and GSXR get their knowledge from magazines. Also the new VMAX is suppose to be awesome. Then there is your Europe sport bikes they are in a class by them selves. One big thing to keep in mind if you live in a small town. What is your nearest dealer. You might have to settle for a lesser bike like the Busa because it is nearer. And make sure you take a MSF course and wear a helmet.

  11. E-Bay! Any of those bikes will be fast enough to push your eyes back in your head.
