Question:

Question about subwoofers and amplifiers (Non-enthusiast)?

Okay, I'm not looking to win any competitions, I'm just trying to get a nice sound with good bass [Like we haven't heard that a thousand times].

My current setup is a Pioneer headunit [50x4w], directly powering the four 6x9's (Two on rear speakerbar, two on front doors). The RCA output is connected to a 300w mono amplifier that is powering two 12" subwoofers in parallel.

What would be the difference if I also had an amplifier for the satellite speakers? Would they be louder? Clearer? Better response? The speakers are all rated at 250w RMS. Would it be better to run each sub on it's own amplifier, rather than both running parallel on a single 300w?

  1. I agree totally.

  2. if you put a amp on the inside speakers they may not get any louder but they would have a much higher sound quality when you turned the volume up- they would not sound distorted but you should also get some bass blockers on them http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/G...

as far as the subs are concerned, as long as they are getting their nessasray RMS wattage (at the proper impedance-ohms) it does not matter if the power comes from one or twelve amps
