at the end of the summer my pool is hot as h**l. I like to swim in cold water, so how well do pool chillers/coolers work; and are they as expensive to run as a pool heater? Thanks.

  1. I know what u mean.. u get in to cool off and it feels sort of sticky and humid... I honestly don't know about the prices! call ur local stores..

  2. I can't believe they even make such a thing!!  Cold water is for suckers I say!!

  3. I would totally just put ice in it, that would work, for free!

  4. I don't have experience with water chillers for a pool, but I would expect it to be *very* expensive to operate. Transferring heat *away* from something will always be more expensive than transferring heat *to* something.

Depending on what the temperature of your supply line is, I would expect it would be much more efficient to bring in fresh water. I realize that uses more water and makes pool chemistry maintenance more difficult, but it would probably be quicker and more energy efficient.
