Um, I have been looking around at cars since im going to be gettin my license soon and am considering what car I could choose. My parents say that it cant be anything more than 13,000 since they are loaning me the money while I work to pay it back. Now i have been looking around and I really like the dodge Caliber. My parents think its a good idea too. But I would like to hear some feedback on its preformance, safety, how it does in the winter since I live in MN, ect.... Thankx!

  1. Lows: Noise, visibility, mediocre fuel economy, fit and finish, reliability.

This small four-door hatchback has a raised seating position similar to that of a small SUV. The engine is noisy, and interior fit and finish is subpar. The ride is sound but unexceptional, and handling is lackluster but ultimately secure. The continuously variable transmission works well, but both the 2.0-liter SXT and 2.4-liter AWD R/T we tested lacked punch, and fuel economy wasn't impressive. A high-performance 285-hp SRT4 is new. Reliability of the front-wheel-drive model is above average, while that of the all-wheel-drive one is well below average.

    look at the Mazda 3

Dodge & Chrysler vehicles are not known for being very reliable.

the Caliber like the new VW bug is cute but both are not mechanically sound.

  2. the Caliber isnt a bad car..

new or used....I think you need to get a certified used one. On a new Caliber your taken a gamble on it beeing a lemon also since you have a set price range your looking at getting a base model for that price vs. looking around and getting a better model maybe even a used R/T for that price. If your worried about warenty... dodge has certified used cars that you can still get warrentys

    SE sport wagon-           $13,920.00

24 mpg City / 29 mpg Hwy   your gas tank is a 13.6 gallon

it is a sporty car and gives you a zippy motor that produces

    148HP @ 6500 RPM - 125 TQ@ 5200 RPM

for safty you have Driver, Passenger, Head/Curtain, Rear air bags and you dont have to worry about the Caliber not  keeping you safe because all models come with a

    Driver Front  crash rating           5stars

    Passenger Front   crash rating  5stars

    Front Side  crash rating              5stars

Rear Side  crash rating              5 stars

    Rollover got a                              4 star

which is amazing so I say the only thing you need to think about is the gas mileage

  3. I have heard of no complaints about the Caliber, and sells very well in my area. I say buy it and enjoy. Good Luck.
