Question:

Question about the Army Air Corps and Infantry

Hi, I am looking to join the Army as an officer when I graduate from university, I would like to fly helicopters at some point in my career and therefore have an ambition to join the Army Air Corps.

However, I also would like to spend some time in an infantry unit, most probably the rifles. Would it be possible to get some of both worlds, maybe join the Infantry and later become a pilot, or vice versa.

If it is possible what would be the best way round to do it.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

  1. The Army Air Corps became known as the U.S Air Force in 1947.  In the ARMY to order to Fly Helicopters you do not need to be an officer, you can also be a Warrant Officer, which do most of the flying.  In order to be a Warrant you must have a "Feeder MOS", Infantry IS a feeding MOS for helicopter pilots.  Enlist as an Infantrymen and when you decide to become a pilot you can either go through WOC school to become a warrent or through OCS, to become an officer. The best thing to have done would have been to join ROTC and branch aviation however.

  2. Dude, he's a Brit obviously.

    Good luck to you.
