By making this Constitution the “Supreme Law of the Land,” the Framers were signaling what to all those who hold office?

The Framers determined that any officers of the state, both legislative and judicial must take oaths to the Constitution. Why would the Framers specifically prohibit a religious test?

  1. The answer is obvious. Towards the middle of the century Islam will be the prevailing world religion. It will dwarf Christianity and others.

    Now, you tell ME why?

  2. By making the Constitution the supreme law of the land the Framers prevented the new country from being a monarchy ruled by a king or queen as in England.

Many things were changed as a result of the American revolution.  Most of changes were not new.  The American revolution did one thing that was truly revolutionary;  separation of church and state had never been done before.

From Wikipedia, "While the United States is recognized as the first country to completely disestablish its government from any religion in its Constitution ratified in 1791, a number of other countries have since followed."

The reason the Framers wanted the separation of church and state was to avoid the religious conflicts and wars that had plagued England and Europe.  Many of the colonies were populated by religious groups that were on the losing side of these conflicts and wars.
