The IOC is finally investigating the legitimacy of the Chinese Gymnasts true ages. If they come to the conclusion that they are indeed underage will they be tripped of their medals? What would be some repercussions?

  1. I don't think it was long overdue, though I wanted an investigation to happen. I think they waited until competition was completed. Just my take.

They'll be stripped, I guess. And China, who did all that great stuff to prepare their country for a great Olympic games, will take a major black eye as cheaters. The government is complicit in this cover-up, given the fact that they attempted to hide evidence when it was found.

Not good for China. Not at all. But is it surprising?

  2. To be sure, their medals would be stripped.  There could be a suspension too, but it's more complex than that.

The question really involves the legacy of the 2008 Olympics.  These Olympics were supposed to be China's coming out party, but if those medals are stripped, then the stupidity of the Chinese government's attempt to cover up the true ages of the athletes will be the main thing that will be remembered.

  3. They would simply be stripped of their medals and whomever is below them in the final standings will receive higher placement and medal colors.  I'm not sure how long suspensions are for misconduct and unfair sportsmanship, if they're found guilty.

  4. They would get thier medals stripped, and potentially a suspension. The suspension in in all reality would not last until the next oylmpic period in London though. It would be really embarassing.

Just a last thought... why does age matter? isnt the point of they oylmpics to crown the best in the world? I feel like they did that...
