  1. Swimming wasn't at the start of the Olympics. That was in Greece and they had like, chariot Races and stuff.

  2. I think Mark have answered you on the date swimming event was held in Olympic. But for the second question>>What country did it come from? I don't really get it.

By the way, all the question in Yahoo! Answer has 10 points up for grab. That's something common. ;-)

  3. Swimming has - with Athletics - been one of the constants of the modern olympics.  It has appeared in every modern olympics  (It's actually part of the sport segment formally known as 'aquatics').

It was invented by someone pre-caveman but competitive swimming was known in a range of countries including China, Japan, US (amongst 'Red Indians'), indigenous Australians ... basically wherever man was, there has been friendly and not-so-friendly competition.

Far too hard to define but the answer is not Egypt alone.

  4. Swimming was at the start of The olympics (August 9 - August 21)

It has been at every Olympics (Women could only enter from 1912)

    Hope I p-helped!

  5. looks like it first appeared in 1896 modern olympics. they swam in the mediterranean sea lol. not sure who "invented" it though.
