Does anyone else consider it weird that, according to the players poll, the two best referees are also the two worst referees?

Here are the results (100 players, with roughly equal distribution amongst the clubs, were asked.

Who is the game's leading referee?

Archer (31)

Hampstead (25)

None of them (16)

Hayne (11)

Others (17

Worst referee?

Hampstead (18)

Archer (15)

Cummins (13)

Maxwell (11)

Others (43)

  1. It does seem wierd but the refs boss should have 6 seasons a week so that they get the decions right.

  2. this actually does make sense to me.

in every game or most games there is a winner and a loser, the losing team usually feel they were cheated by the ref or a bad call so they voted worst ref,

the winning side probly thought the ref was good because there were no dodgy calls against them and possibly less penalties

therefore the voting for best and worst should be fairly even

  3. yea that makes a whole lot of sense lol

  4. look at it like this....... for every game their is a winner and a loser, so obviosly the winners picked archer and hamstead for best and the losers picked them for the worst!

the reality of it is, its just a personal opinion, not everyone is going to agree on the same person!

  5. id have to say archer is the worst referree

i have said this so many times but i don't care

he can't play fair, he is always taking sides

and he is always against manly, no matter what

  6. Maybe those players know something we don't joey. We are looking at it from a different perspective then they are, but I sometimes wonder why players praise a ref who, to me, seems to be a real stinker.I don't understand a lot of those polls anyway, I reckon they do them when the players are slightly(or totally) 'under the weather' following celebrations for a win etc! lol
