Question about the TOMTOM ONE XL?

How many POI (points of interest) does the TOMTOM ONE XL have? Can you put more points of interest on it? When you are out of town and are looking for a certain restaurant, can you just type in the restaurant to the TOMTOM, and the TOMTOM will pull it up?

  1. I'm on a 30 day trial period for this nav system. And honestly I'm considering bringing it back, it's a little slow.

And most importantly, NO, it will not find specific restaurants and such.

It won't even find a Blockbuster, I'm trying to figure out how to add more POIs but I'm being let down more and more by this pretty little device... dunno

If you find any good answers please help me out

  2. The TomTom ONE XL measures 4.7 by 3.4 by 1.2 inches and weighs 7.4 ounces. As I said before, it features a 4.3-inch, 16-bit WQVGA (480 by 272 pixels) screen. The built-in lithium ion battery is rated for 2 hours—the same as the original TomTom ONE's. Complete TeleAtlas maps for the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, and Guam are preloaded along with a POI (points of interest) database that TomTom claims has more than five million entries. The SD card slot, used for maps on the original TomTom ONE, is available for additional maps, such as of Europe. And the TomTom ONE XL ships with the same type of ball-and-socket suction-cup bracket that I liked on the original ONE.

TomTom doesn't break much new ground with the ONE XL. You'll find the company's familiar user interface on it. By default, however, the TomTom ONE XL ships with only the basic menus enabled. The main menu consists of just two screens, each with five choices and a right-pointing arrow to advance you to the next page. With the advanced menus activated, the main menu expands to three pages, each with five options. Similarly, in basic mode, there are three pages of preference settings. In advanced mode, your choices expand to seven pages, for a total of 35 choices. Interestingly, the basic menus entries don't let you set routing preferences, nor will they allow you cancel a route. You have to enable advanced menus for those settings to become available.
