Question about the air force?

When I enlist in the air force where do I go for basic training. I live in california and i was hoping to go to the afb in washington but when i cheked the air force sight i saw that it said in the tutorial you go to texas but im not sure if you have to go there or not?

Basic Training is and always has been at Lackland AFB,  San Antonio Texas.  Its recently been extended to 8 weeks.    We have many tech schools around the country.  While you are in basic and tech school, you will be very busy learning about the Air Force and your job.

lackland i believe is the name of the base..in texas...you have to go there...thats where they train .....you could possibly get the base in washington state if they have your job and they need you..put it down as one of your choices...thats all you can do..there is never a guarantee that you will get what you want...

Basic training for the AF is located in San Antonio Texas.  Everyone goes there for basic training, but there are several locations for your technical school afterwards, depending upon what field you go in.

There's two training bases within the Air force. One is in Texas but it's mainly a technical training base for familization on aircraft systems which includes but not limited to jet engine repair, removal & replacement, weapon systems, and standard FAA regulation procedures. then there's one located down in florida. Both have the same training objectives just different environment. But keep in mind that once you sign on the dotted line and say the oath that you are government property and that you'll have to contend with being shipped overseas and being stationed on whatever base that both the DOD (Department of Defense) and your squadron commander feels that needs more troops/airman.

For your job you are going into, if you haven't been to the MEP center yet whatever you do do not list as open. Keep your mind set on the career you think you are suited for and comfortable with and do not let the recruiter try to force you into a job that you feel you won't like. If you did list yourself as open be ready to be placed in any job that they need to meet the quota for the period. For example if your expertise is in automtive mechanics and you list as open they might place you behind a desk pushing papers or placing you as a weapons/bomb loader.

Whatever you feel like doing is your responsibility and your decission. Just be ready for anything that the military gives you. Cause in the end the saying once a soldier always a soldier is instilled within you and military life will forever change your life.
