Question:

Question about the decals/logo on my bike?

I just bought an old Centurion Accordo road bike, which is made in Taiwan. The logos/decals are stickers and are not painted on the frame like I've seen on most other bikes. I feel like this cheapens the look of my bike. I was wondering if there is a way to remove the stickers without damaging the paint? If so, how would I do it?

Also, if anyone has more information on this particular model that would be great, too! :)

  1. Virtually all bikes have stickers, very few have any logos painted on. The main difference is some will have a clear coat(s) over the sticks - these can't easily be removed, while others have stickers applied on top of the paint - these can be removed.

Try Goop remover or moderate heat. Don't use any other solvent as it may damage the paint.

  2. Most bikes have the decals UNDER the clear top coat so removing it is usually next to impossible without removing the paint as well. In your case, the easiest way is to use a hair dryer to soften the decal and scrape it off with a fingernail.

Centurion is now known as Diamondback which is owned by Raleigh USA.

  3. Its the glue you need to disolve. A product called GumOut works great for this. You just spray on (they also have liquid without an applicator workds the same) and let sit. Then you work your fingernail (or other non abrasive i.e. plastic putty knife) and work it off.

    Good luck!

  4. body shops use oven cleaner to remove decals.  they also make decal remover.  it melts the decal and then you just scrape it off and clean off the adhesive with a little tar and adhesive remover.

  5. A hair dryer might soften the stickers so they will come off. Or hold a hot wet cloth on the top of the sticker. The bike looks like it's been sitting a long time.

  6. Try some goo be gone product and spray it all over the stick and it should peel right off.  It's a plastic sticker and not a paper one, so you shouldn't harm the paint too much.  Good Luck!
