Question:

Question about the infamous VCH piercing?

I've wanted my VCH (vertical clitoral hood) piercing for a very long time... and I think I'm finally going to do it! I've heard you need to abstain from having s*x for a while after getting it done (which makes sense). How long should I avoid sexual contact in that area after getting it done? I've read SO many different answers to this question on websites and I'm interested in answers from people who know from experience. Thanks!

  2. Healing varies for everyone, but VCHs generally heal very quickly. Contrary to popular belief, they're really easy to take care of, as urine is a sterile liquid and doesn't hurt the piercing at all. Safely, plan on 4 weeks with no sexual contact at all. Go slowly after that- you'll have to find out when yours is not only healed, but toughened up a little. It can get a little sore if there's too much movement direclty on it. Realisitcally, once you've determined it's healed, you could use *ahem* alternate positions if it started getting a little overworked. You definitely want at least a 14 ga to start with, as the skin is very elastic and you don't want something too thin resulting in the "cheese cutter effect." It might hurt. It's usually supposed to be just a pinch. I cussed my piercer- only took long enough for 1 four letter word though- and he apologized, saying that I had tough skin there. I guess that's a good thing, as mine has never stretched and is just fine however many years it's been now. 8 maybe? Still at a 14 ga. Actually, still with the original bar. Word to the wise- obviously you won't get it at "that time of month," but don't get it right before, either. Even if you don't have pms, it's likely it will hurt more than it should. Ideally, go shortly after your week is over. If you have other piercings, you may be able to guess at your healing rate. At my piercer's advice, I did absolutely nothing except wash when I was in the shower and make sur enot to rub it wrong with toilet paper...yeah. It was super easy to heal. I'm sure it was fine within about 2 weeks, if not less. Think about it- you cut your leg shaving, it takes a while to heal. You get a little nick in your bikini line or even closer, it's healed in a few days. The piercing really doesn't go through much skin, so there's not a thick spot to heal as with, say, a navel with maybe 3/8" of bar in the skin. The vch only goes through maybe 1/8-1/4" of skin. It's just a longer bar so it comes out at the right place. And hits everything between. Make sure you go to a piercer with enough experience nad a good portfolio- someone who will tell you no if you're not suited for the piercing. Granted, just about any woman can get a vch, but I've seen some pretty poorly done hch's.

There, I think that's a decent amount of info. Enjoy it!
