Question about the middle 50% range for college acceptance?

I'll be a senior in a few weeks and I'm trying to have a complete list of colleges to apply to by September. I'm having a problem figuring out what schools I have a good chance of getting into or don't.

For example Wesleyan University's SAT score range is

Critical Reading: 650-750

Math: 650-740

Writing: 650-740

My SAT scores are 650, 660, and 660 so I am at the low range of these scores. But I did score higher than 25: of last years incoming class, have a 3.8 GPA, and I'm involved in a lot of activities.

What I'm trying to ask is in cases like these, do I have a high likely hood of getting in? I know it is not a safety but is it a target school or a significant reach?

  1. I believe that you probably have a chance to get into it, although it probably would be a reach school like you stated.

However, some colleges want to admit those who are not concentrating on academics and concentrate on sports or something to diverse their student body. Those who concentrate on sport are likely to have lower SAT scores, resulting in the lower range of SATs.

But seeing what you have presented, I think there is a potential shot at the school.

    Good luck. :]

  2. not sure- those seem like pretty good scores to me. I'd be surprised if you were turned down anywhere.
