was daryl waltrip really as big a jerk as they made him out to be? and did waltrip and earnhardt become friends later?

Darrell Waltrip was an arrogant, punk @ss who wasn't afraid to p**s people off, yes he was like that, *I was his fan, imagine that*

And yes, he and Dale became very close friends *I was his fan, too, rip*

I just watched it today.I don't know if Daryl was a jerk like the movie said or Not.I was disappointed in the ending.

Yes they nicknamed DW Jaws because he was always talking too much.  DW and Dale Sr. were good friends especially when Mikey was driving for DEI and was doing good then.

I believe Waltrip was a "jerk" when he was younger.  As far as them becoming friends.  I don't know when it really happened, but I do know he had Waltrip driving the car he owned when he was starting his team.  Probably wanted someone in the car to drive for Steve Park who was going to give the kind of effort and grit he would.  Keep your friends closes and your enemies closer......

yes, they became really good friend and yes waltrip was a prick back in the day!!!!!!! but him and dale were alot a like......  sometimes it takes years to build a good friendship

DW was not well liked for a long time.  His nickname was "Jaws" because he would not shut-up.  To this day, it surprises me how popular he is when he was once so hated.

At one time Ole D.W. would make Kyle Bush look like a kindergardener.

He was a very vocal and would use the "Chrome Horn" to move anyone out of his way.

Yes Daryl actually said "crazy man" in an interview once! Pretty sure they became friends afterwords.
