Question about the movie Home Alone 2?

Question

The plane to New york and the other plane to Miami left at basically the same time right?

then how come the movie made it seem like Kevin and his family arrived at their destination at about the same time?

Like when Kevin first got out of the plane, the movie then flashes to Kevin's family who just arrived at Florida.

Well Florida's WAY farther from Chicago than New York, and then the movie flashes back to Kevin who was still at the airport?

Am I missing something here?

Just a light hearted family movie watched mainly by kids. They don't really put much attention to detail in these type of movies.
