  1. I do not think so. The description in the source website speaks of a ramp leading to the 11 tracks while "Below the tracks and building is a large area for baggage, mail, and other office building functions."

There are more descriptions and photos here:

There's a postcard of the track side of the building showing he ground level platforms at:

Right below the photo it says: "Below the tracks and platforms was a HUGE area for baggage, express and mail. It was roughly twice the area of the station itself. Freight elevators ran up to the platforms, and at the far south end, a series of doors opened to the city streets."

So, it seems there were "tunnels" down there, but not for the trains.

  2. I'll assume that you're asking about the Michigan Central Station in Detroit, I know that the station in Kalamazoo and on Grosse Ile did not.

As has already been answered, the Detroit Michigan Central Station had an underground luggage/freight area, but there was not an underground area for the trains themselves.  Today the Michigan Central Tunnel connects Detroit, Michigan and Windsor, Ontario, which is owned and maintained my the Canadian Pacific Railroad.  There is also another tunnel in Port Huron which was opened by the Grand Trunk Railroad.
