Question about the side effects of a steroid and anti-depressant?

I was wondering if anybody could help me out. I have a (low) blood pressure condition that I take Florinef for, and I'm also dealing with anxiety so I take Zoloft for that. The Florinef is only 2mg and the Zoloft is 25mg. I have been on them for quite a while now and it seems that I cannot get off of them for about 5 years. I have gained 11 pounds so far and no matter what I do I can't seem to lose it. Any suggestions?

  1. there are many variables but in general steroids will make you gain weight, steroids are used to "bulk up". the type of anti-depressant you take is needed to see how it will interact with the steroid. Zoloft works by increasing the feel good chemicals in your brain like: endorphin, dopamine & triptophanates. the only interaction i can see is that you will feel good and will make things like eating "pleasurble" this would compound the effects of the steroid.

if the weight continues to be a problem i would recommend a diffrent type of anti-depressant like Wellbutrin, wellbutrin is actually a stimulant and could help give you the energy to keep yourself busy and thus helping you lose weight.-blurey
