Question about to make an indoor table safe to put outdoors?

This is the only pic I could find that was similiar to the table I have. http://www.pier1.com/TopMenu/Products/tabid/260/Default.aspx?task=viewproduct&id=1049&urlname=terracotta-pedestal-table

The difference is the legs are rod iron and scrolled and the table top is wood with metal studs on it. It is really cute I bought it from Homesense (it is a Canadian store) much like Pier 1 only cheaper.

I want to put the table on my balcony. It would not be directly in line with the elements. I have an overhang on my balcony and would just be dealing with hot and cold. what can I do to keep the wood and legs (iron) from getting damaged? help please :)

  1. I have been going to do the same thing, i.e. putting an inside table outside, and have chosen to use Krylon which I have successfully used on brightly coloured garden hoses to dull them down and make them less visible in the grass.  Krylon is also good on faded, old garden furniture, whether wood or plastic, since it bends with the plastic a bit, preventing cracks.  It seems to be good to spray on various materials for outdoors .

  2. Get a can of spray Polyurethane Clear. you can get Gloss for something to shine or semigloss for not so shiny but spray on many light coats for a few days and take you time to let them dry for a few hours between coat, make sure it is the kind with UV protection. If they don't have it go somewhere else to get it. Lowes and ACE carrys it.
