Question:

Question about touching my nose piercing?

I got several good responses about the keloid that has grown next to my nose piercing. The one thing everyone agreed on was that I should not touch it. Well... I have a bad habit of touching it. Plus, it always feels like there's a booger in my nose so I sort of feel around the inside of my nose and bump the piercing (sorry if that was gross, but its true). My questions are:

1) If I can't stop doing this, should I remove the piercing?

2) If I remove the piercing, will the keloid go away?

  1. The word keloid is thrown around alot in the piercing world.  Unless the thing is absolutely huge, it is not a keloid.  It's just a part of the healing process.  However, you should take the piercing out if you can't stop playing with it, because infections in that area suck.  They're easy to get, an hard to get rid of, because your nose is made out of cartilage, so it doesn't have it's own blood supply.  If you remove the piercing, the bump, which is likely not a keloid, will go away.
