Question about train prices?

I shall be arriving at Birmingham New Street Station on Saturday at 10pm and will need to get a train from there to Coventry. I've checked the prices on line and it says £3.80 for a single. I will be buying on the train so will it be the same prices or will it be more?

  1. buy a ticket before you travel from any station, just state where from/to and time/date of travel. you can do this in advance, they will just print off the required ticket saves getting caught without a ticket which is what they could say you are doing.

  2. Is same price.

  3. There is no reason to buy on the train, there is a ticket office and plenty of machines.

  4. It is the same price, but be aware if you are caught on a train without a ticket (even with the intention of buying one) then you could be fined. best to buy in advance from the station concourse if you can.......

You say you are just changing trains at Birmingham, so why don't you just buy a through ticket to Coventry from your starting destination ?
