Question about transition of two scenes in a screenplay.

Hi, I just want to know how I'm going to write down a transition of two scenes under a fast forward effect.

Anyway, the situation is more like a video montage that fast forwards to a specific point.

E.G: The beginning of the montage is the protagonist being born, then I want it to fast forward to his 1st birthday.

  1. Then Blackout the scene, then bring in an older boy

  2. If you are writing a "spec script", you should not use scene transitions, except perhaps for CUT TO: at the end of each scene, though frankly, I never even use that.

Just write your scenes, and when you want to change the scene, use the slug line that starts with INT., EXT., or I/E (which is used when a scene is a combination of interior/exterior, such as in a convertible - to be honest that's the only time I've ever seen it used)

    INT. HOSPITAL - DAY

    Subject is being born.

    INT. SUBJECT'S CHILDHOOD HOME

A cake is on the table with one birthday candle on it. Subject tries to blow out the candle...

  3. i think the easiest way to approach it is a storyboard...do each frame, that way you know exactly what you want to look at.
