Question about uk, sweden, germany?

i'm from swede and i traveled to some countries in europe. i noticed that the people of uk and germany don't like each other, although they are so similar. they are also similar to us swedes, but we like them and they seem to like us...so why is that so? it can't be because of the war anymore, can it?

we dont hate germany or france really, our towns are twinned together, but when it comes to football the countires throw insults of what hapend in the past and its a shame really coz wer'e not all that different as for sweden we like you coz u gave us ikea lol

Sometimes there are still resentments or prejudices in France, Great Britain and so on but usually Germans (except some stupid.....) like all others but soccer is a different topic ;-)

I think it is because they are competitors on the same field.

Compare it to two towns that are in the same sports competition, the neighboring towns are always more fanatic about it than two towns far away from each other.

But some countries have better memories than others.

The English still hate the French for things happening in 1066 if I may trust the stories going round in England.
