why do people call people wannabe's....since the 50s kids have always adopted the "hard" image...there have always been preps and tough guys..now a days the cool thing is dressin' in rap fashion...like in the 50s alotta kids wore leather jackets and put there hair in ducktails...the 80s....alotta kids dressed new wave or metal...in the 90s...khackis and hoodies...i mean rebellion is norml...its called being a teenager..lie preps..a kid people consider "preppy" is abrecombie...cause its "suburban"..but so what cant we get along

and another thing people say rap is black music...but remeber rock was invented by blacks in the 50s...chuck berry, little richard...then artist like bill haley and elvis started doin it and brought it to a white audience

  1. I dont wannabe....

  2. I know what you mean, but if they talk like a pep, look like a prep, walk like a prep, they must be a prep. There are also kids that ask how to be emo...that is a little poser-ish. I always get called a hippie because I have long hair and because I'm very opinionated, and I am waaaaayyy too mean to be a hippie.

  3. whats the question here?

  4. because people have nothing better to do then diss other people no matter what the situation is people are always going to hate on other people just cause they think they can if you find something you like rock that style hard be true to the style and dont worry what other people think

  5. i understand where your coming from and i agree with your message, that we should all come together instead of separating our society into different groups and cliques. BUT, Elvis is a douche, he stole rock and f*cked it all up. AND, rap is not a fashion or a trend, it's one of the greatest forms of music of all time. the suburban kids who watch gangsta flicks and music videos make it a sort of fad, but hip hop in its truest essence is a way of life and the way that hip hop artists dress is mostly based on where they come from. ie: rappers from Boston might wear adidas, Sox hats, champion hoodies while while rappers from LA might wear dickies, chucks, k-swiss, or bandanas. kids from the burbs who sag their jeans and wear shady hoodies just look straight up stupid and i feel bad for them.

  6. I think you have different connotations of what a wanna be is.  A wanna be is someone who is fake, someone who is doing something because everyone else, NOT because its what they like.  A wannabe is someone who jeopordizes who they really are to fit in.

You are making it sound like anyone in any clique is a wannabe.

Chuck Berry I would consider more folk or blues than rock.  I dont know much about Little Richard.

Bottom line, people segregate themselves.  Always have, and always will.  Cliques will always be around.  And as an adult looking back at my time as a teen and then teens over the years...   the names and some looks may change, but the issues between the cliques are always the same.

What I hate about it is it gives a false sense of reality and the real world.

Looking at when I was in school, the preppy people were always the most popular, had the most money.  Jocks were looked as goof offs, never going anywhere.  Geeks sat at home every night reading, not cool.  Freaks or goth (todays scene and emo) were weird.  And now, looking at those same groups of people 10 and 15 years later.....   those cliques were no way indicative of what people have done or who they are as adults.

High school cliques happen because there is nothing else pressing to go on.  While of course, the point of school is education, if you ask most high school people, they will say things along the lines of socializing, talking to their friends, hanging out, ect....   When the most important thing in your life is your social status, it just naturally happens.

And while of course, each work place has its own cliques, its no where near what it is in high school.
