why are some of you so rude to people when they ask questions about welfare..i see people all the time saying mean things and i agree i can not stand it when someone is on it just because they want to be but i do understand when they need to be for whatever reason..and we have no way of knowing what type they are welfare losers or people that need help for a minute..and i see a lot about tax dollars that i disagree with you would pay taxes either way so that makes no sense so my question is why do you (if you do) get mean? any other comments welcome...

  1. There's alway people out there who are nasty to anyone in need. It makes them feel big even though they low level cowards themselves.

  2. There are people who benefit from having it while they get back on their feet but there are many people who abuse it and cheat the system. Tax dollars increase w/increased use (that's a fact). I believe in philanthropy as much as anyone, I just think the system needs to be reformed so that funds aren't misappropriated.

  3. welfare is a joke

  4. I dont understand why people are rude about it either.  There are some people who need state assistance for whatever reason.

I mean it does take alot out of our taxes and stuff but we do get our taxes back at the end of the year..

if more dads or moms would actually support there children instead of not paying any child support im sure the welfare would cut back alot but there so many dead beat dads and dead beat moms that jus dont even pay to raise there kids and its sickning.

I have a son thats one years old with a complete loser that hasnt paid ANYTHING on his son in one year nothing at all.. it jus appalls me.  but I dont count on him ever paying so whatever im not going to press it.

some people take advantage of the state which isnt right and some people out there need help.

I have never gotten welfare but someone like me that needs help wont ever get it and I make min. wage and im a single mother and live in an apartment and raise my son on my own its hard. but its worth it.

  5. to the dude below me she will never get welfair cuz shes not black

  6. Sounds like you need welfare to me.

  7. i do feel as if there should be a better screening process. I really hate to see people collect when they are perfectly capable.

but on the other hand, a mentally disabled adult i mentored had a VERY VERY hard time getting SSI and food stamps. i was irritated at the hard time they gave her.

  8. I am not sure I understand the question. I have had to get help because the man i married turned out to be  something way different than I expected. He had a history I knew nothing of.  We were young and had three kids After I fought to get custody I was able to go to college with Financial aid and graduate but I was never able to work full time because I became disabled and can not walk well. I work about 1/4 time but still need help with rent and food.  My fault yes for getting married young and having kids anything I can do about it NO so I live in poverty just trying to get by. We have never had a vacation or a car less than 15 years old.  But we are a very close family. Any one that wants to live on welfare has no goals or self worth. you can not get ahead living this way. Yes I wish things were different but I have done the best I can and am grateful for the help I have gotten.

It is not easy to get welfare I had to wait 30 days no food no cash with three kids you have to jump when they say jump and ask how high. I did not get food stamps or medical the three years I went to school.  My kids did but I never got any child support. I had 3 $ left after paying rent and utilities  that did not cover diapers for the little one. I had to sell my stove fridge drapes everything I could just to pay rent. Please do not think we are living a high life. I must also say that the dental care I get is substandard it is not supposed to last.  Eye glasses I get do not last two years I have had to wear glasses that are held together with tape until the two years are up to get them replaced. But yet I am thank ful for what I do get.

  9. my comment is people need not to be mean to the one that need welfare because one day u may be a paycheck away and need welfare yourself never judge because u never know.......

  10. My mom was on welfare when I was growing up while she was in college, and we got out of it. I am in college now and she graduated with a Bach degree in education, so yeah, it does benefit people who are less fortunate as long as the use the help wisely

  11. I think it depends on where the persons political beleifs lay.

I think it depends if they've had a bad experience w/ a welfare "user"

I think often people make judgements w/o fully backing up their beliefs.

I myself did need welfare for about 1 yr, the tax payers did pay it but now it's for my ex to pay back since I was on it for our child. If you don't work the system & do it the RIGHT way - a lot more people would be open to it. Unfortunately people will always abuse.
