Question about what I need for field hockey?

i'm starting girls field hockey tomorrow, and i just got all my stuff,

buuuut.

on the list, it says i need sneakers AND cleats.

whats the difference???

sneakers are regular shoes like you wear every day - Nike, etc

cleats have the little prongs on the bottom of the soles to grip the ground on the field

You probably need sneakers for the gym workouts and running sprints.

Sometimes the coaches will have you run on the track, for a timed mile or something like that. Schools don't allow cleats on the track, it messes up the rubber. So cleats are only used ON the field, and sneakers could be worn for either the track OR the field. I just wear sneakers the entire time for practice so I don't have to switch, but sometimes sneakers slip on the grass.
