Question about wicker furniture.?

I just bought a old set at a second hand store.It really needs to be clean and painted.I cleaned it with bleach water but it still looks pretty worn.I always heard that you can't paint wicker because it need to breath.Can anyone tell me if its true.Or how to refinish it?

paint it it will be fine the worn spots my be water stains spray paint my be better I have painted wicker it lasted a lot longer than unpainted

If you go online, you'll see white wicker and green wicker and brown wicker.... all painted and all pretty.

I have seen painted wicker  quite often i think it would be fine.
