do i connect the positive terminal of the circuit to live or neutral on the power module?

  1. It depends absolutely on what you are trying to achieve.

    Most - but by no means all - circuits use "negative ground", where the lowest potential is grounded

    There are several reasons why a positive terminal would be grounded, the most apparent to me is to create a "split" supply, for example +12 and -12V;

    Many old cars (I mean 60+ years old) used a positive ground system.


  2. I don't think anyone can give you a safe answer unless we see the circuit and components. BUT, the neutral side of any circuit should not be connected to power.
