Question about wisdom teeth?

i got my wisdom teeth out on monday morning.. it is now saturday night.. the stitches are still in, but you can definitely see an open hole on the bottom two when i stretch out my mouth. does this mean that it is not healing properly? because the pain is worse today than it has been any other day. i was thinking it could be dry socket, but from what i have heard, dry socket is extremely painful and unbearable.. the pain is not bad, just dull and annoying.. could it still be dry socket? and arent the stitches supposed to close up the holes, there are holes and stitches which makes no sense? my dentist didnt give me an appt to check to make sure its healing okay, either. i have been eating soft foods mostly, but i did have a sandwich and fries and i wanted to see if that seems okay to eat considering there are still holes there.. sorry for such a long explanation.. im just wondering if im being paranoid or if everything is okay?

  1. idk

  2. Dry socket is supposedly very painful and unbearable. If you have it, it's unmistakable. There would be no question about it. A dull and annoying pain is completely normal. It's not a dry socket.

Yeah it seems weird that if you got stitches, the holes would be open. But that's how it was for mine too. I just had these weird loose stitches hanging at the ends, but the holes were completely showing.

You probably shouldn't eat solid foods yet...wait at least a whole week. Because when you eat solid foods, the food will get stuck in the holes and you will need to squirt it out with a syringe. You don't want to be using the syringe and squirting in the holes until the blood clot is completely formed and is sure to stay there. You don't want to disturb it, so it's best not to eat solid foods yet.

You are supposed to have an appt. with your dentist for the follow up. It is important that you make an appt. if you don't already have one.
