Question about writing a check!

If the amount in the little box is $123.50, can you write out that amount as One twenty-three and 50/100?

I know it's supposed to be One hundred twenty-three and 50/100, but I was wondering if the bank would accept the other way.

  1. either way would be accepted.. but one hundred twenty three and 50/100 is the correct way.

Edit... I say either way would be accepted, but it totally depends on where the check is going.  If you wrote the check out, and you're cashing it, it's fine.  If you're sending it as bill payment,  it's fine.  If you are giving it to a friend, they may or may not have a hard time with it.  If it was given to you, try to cash it, if they won't take it, request a new check.

  2. It is a good habit to write it properly "one hundred and twenty three and cents fifty only".

"one twenty-three and 50/100" will not be honored by the bank, definitely.

  3. Yes, either way is fine.
