In monopoly do you have to land on the property to buy a log cabin for it?

No. You can buy a log cabin anytime during the game. It doesnt matter whos turn it is.

I play that you don't have to land on the property, but you have to wait your turn to buy a house or hotel for the property. hope that helps! =]

its easier if you wait til its ur turn to buy a house/hotel otherwise the game gets confusing.

I usually play that you buy it on your turn

My family waits to buy cabins or houses and hotels until their to turn.  That way it doesn't get confusing.

If you read the rules under houses it doesn't say it must be your turn.  The rules state that you can do it anytime as long as you build evenly.  Hope that helps you!

I do however play it must be your turn - does seem less confusing.

Our rule was you conduct business on your turn.

We play you have to wait for your turn - otherwise the order can get mixed up - and its easier for kids to follow.
