Question abuot TigerDirect giftcards?

Hello my dad is giving me a tigerdirect gifcard for my birthday and i would like to know if i can can ask the people from tigerdirect to change it for money or put it in my credit card.....the thing is that i dont want to buy anything from them........can i do that or i have to use it and buy something from them?
