Question bout yugioh gladiator beast octavius?

if this monster was special summoned by the effect of gladiator beast darius (special summoned from graveyard) does that mean that i don't have to discard one card when octavius was attacked or when it attacked? Since when its special summoned from the graveyard by darius, the effect gets cancelled?

Correct, any Gladiator summoned by Darius will have (all) its effect(s) negated. So you do NOT have to discard a card to keep Octavius on the field.
