Here are the verses:

"For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. For, "Yet a little while, and the coming one will come and will not delay"

Comment: What an awesome promise that we have to look forward to as believers in Christ! Maranatha, Lord!

Question: Does your patience wear thin sometimes here on earth as you wait for Christ to come back? I know mine does from time to time.

Thanks,

Primo

  1. Well, because we are human and are sinners, we do lose patience in many situations, whether it's waiting on a long check-out line, sitting in traffic, etc. It's difficult at times to have patience, considering this is not a perfect world. I certainly will admit that I do lose patience, wondering when Christ is going to return. But, keep in mind that the Lord said He WILL return, as Christ does not lie! He is incapable of sin; He is perfect in every way and so, He cannot deceive! He will keep His promise!! In every situation in a Christian's life, Christ tests our faith and teaches us patience and trust as well. I do wonder when He will return - and I do hope it's soon!

    2Th 1:6  Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;

2Th 1:7  And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

2Th 1:8  In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

    2Th 1:9  Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

2Th 1:10  When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

2Th 1:11  Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

2Th 1:12  That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

2Pe 1:10  Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

2Pe 1:11  For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

2Pe 3:9  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

2Pe 3:10  But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

2Pe 3:11  Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

2Pe 3:12  Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

2Pe 3:13  Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

2Pe 3:14  Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

1Jn 4:4  Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

1Ti 6:12  Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

Mat 24:35  Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Mat 24:36  But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Mat 24:37  But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Mat 24:38  For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,

Mat 24:39  And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

  2. Hebrews 10:

36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. 37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. 38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

  3. Absolutely!!

I want to see as many come in and know the Lord because frankly, nothing compares to knowing Him! He is everything good and Holy and more! That's why I do lose patience sometimes because I love Him!

I know He's looking forward to bringing us all home to be with Him. He truly loves us like an engaged man loves his lady.

Hebrews 12:2 says, "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

We are the joy mentioned here in this verse. We are His joy!! He loves us through and through and won't let satan pull us out of His loving hands. He fought for us to the death and won! He wouldn't even let death keep us  from Him!

  4. Hey, you can do lots of things to shorten the waiting time, ye know?

  5. LOL, you more than anyone else here know how thinly my patience has worn on occasion.  But we all persevere ... or leave R&S forever.

Sometimes, it seems to me that we're all like Noah -- despirately warning everyone around us, but no one is listening.  Just think how impatient Noah must have been with those stubborn, godless people.  But if he could put up with it, we can too.

  6. "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labour for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, so that through my being with you again your joy in Christ Jesus will overflow on account of me."

    Philippians 1:21-26

Paul experienced the same longing to be with his Saviour... We all experience it at times when we become so pained by the crumbling world around us and we long for the perfection of heaven.

However, just as he said to the Philippians that to live was profitable for them we must know that our living can be profitable for others as well. Jesus' return is delayed because God is merciful and desires none to perish but all to be saved. The anguish that we experience now should drive us to evangelise with greater passion and cling with greater fervency to the hope of heaven and the New Earth, full restored and fully glorious!

When you feel like this, turn your eyes upon Jesus and look deeply into his wonderful face... Be strengthened and press onwards towards the prize. And if you want his return to be speeded there is only one way that it is indicated we can do this - preach the gospel! Being good, doing charitable works, nursing the sick, feeding the poor, these are all good things but only the preaching of the Gospel to all nations will help speed the return of our Lord.

He'll take you home in His good time - see you there...

  7. I sometimes feel like Lot in Sodom. He was vexed at everything going on around him. Only I would not hesitate to get out of there.

  8. Sure it does!  If we had infinite patience, we wouldn't be human.

  9. My patience doesn't wear thin, but I am certainly looking forward to Christ's return!

  10. Agree it is the awesome promise!  My patience doesn't wear thin on waiting because I have too many loved ones that I hope to go with me and I know they are not ready yet.  I do look forward to that day though and don't think it will be long.

  11. "Question: Does your patience wear thin sometimes here on earth as you wait for Christ to come back? I know mine does from time to time."

Well you'll be waiting for a LONG time. Since your christ never existed in the first place.

  12. Sometimes it does wear thin not so much in regards to people but impatience for healing and/or a new body that will not have problems with the knees or any allergies or anything else.  I truly think that sock race on Golden streets won't be just you and me...I think the King of Kings....Jesus will be up for a sock race too and it won't even matter who wins we'll all just be having a ball with Him.

  13. Yes everyday I say "Come Lord Jesus!" or "Come quickly Lord!" as I am so ready to be with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

I love that song "Give me Jesus" the lyrics that say "You can have all this world, just give me Jesus!" Amen!

  14. No Sir, it doesn't.

  15. Amen

This is indeed a truly awesome verse and gives us hope and strenghtens us to endure yet another day.

Hallelujah for this kind of speaking in the Book of Hebrews. The coming One will come and will not delay.

On the one hand our being yearns for the Lord's return. On the other we need to see that there is a ripe harvest with few labourers to care for it's reaping.  There is also the matter of the Church as the Body of Christ that needs to be built up. There is also this criticial matter of our inward transformation and conformation to the Image of Our Lord Jesus Christ that takes a deep work of the Holy Spirit in us to be accomplished.

We need to all arrive at the oneness of the Faith and be each presented as a full grown man who is a coporate man, made up of all the saints that match Christ's stature and fullness.  This takes time because God truly requires the denying of the Self, the taking up of the cross daily and of following the Lord who is the Lamb. There are still situations outwardly in the world, tribulations that have to come in to test our faith to see its strength.  Our lives here in North America is still very easy and much in us has to pass through the refining fire of God's dealings.

I look at this verse and there is such hope and at the same time there is such a cry from my inner man that I be ready in all ways for His pending return. One day, the Coming one will not just be the " coming One" .. HE WILL RETURN and not delay. may we be found watching and waiting,  and also being occupied with His work on the earth.

    1 Thes 5:23

"And the God of Peace Himself sanctify you wholly and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ"

    Maranatha dear brother..

Even so.. come quickly Lord Jesus!

May the Lord soon answer the Bride and the Spirit's cry to Him!

    Your sis

    sandy

  16. LOL...beam me up Jesus!

  17. sometimes it does.

  18. Human tendencies are that we tend to be impatient.

The trick is to keep busy in the work of the lord.

1 Timothy 4:16....Pay constant attention to yourself and to your teaching. Stay by these things, for by doing this you will save both yourself and those who listen to you.

  19. Hello, Primo:

Yes, my wife and I speak frequently of our want to go "home."

But we know we would never be happy there knowing that we didn't work hard enough to invite another person to accept Christ and enter glories unimaginable.

So, we are tontent to stay here and work as long as He calls us.

Shalom, peace in Jesus, Ben Yeshua.

  20. No, the Lord is not slow in His coming. To God a thousand years to us, is but a day to Him. By God's time table, it's only been two days sense the promise.
