i was playing in a tournament yesterday and on match point i went to the net for a volley and the ball hit the net, missed my racket, hit my eye, bounced over the net for a winner. my opponent was awarded the point. I was wondering if the ruling was correct?

  1. yes

  2. yes if the ball touches you it is the opponents point. sorry!!

  3. i think if the ball hit the net, then hit your eye, then bounced over the net to-your-opponent-court, then it should be YOUR point. the ruling states a point ends if the ball hits any part of your body (hair included) or your racquet or your clothing is based on the assumption that the ball then lands in-your-court (i.e., the rule does not consider the possibility of returning the ball after such event occurs). anyway you should be careful next time and instead of hurting yourself, try to pose a more aggressive stance when at the net and aim at the ball more closely. hope it helps :)

  4. Yes.  The ball can only be counted if hit over the net with your racket, not any other device (otherwise, people would bounce the thing off their chest).

  5. yes the ruling was correct.

because the ball hit you. not your racket

  6. Yes if the ball hits any body part the point is over.

How did it miss you racquet.

Did it hit a net chord or something or you misjudged the flight.
