I am a US citizen and I am married to a mexican citizen. We are planning on going to Mexico in about 8 months bc his dad is very sick. He hasn't seen his mother or father for over 6 yrs. I was wondering what is life like in mexico and what should i kno? I speak a little spanish and understand everything...but i have my husband that will be by my side in mexico...once i arrive i plan to go and learn the whole language through a school there. Also i was wondering what document or papers do i need to have or do in order for me to live in mexico and come and see my family whenever i want. I am kinda nervous about this bc i have never been out of the USA. We are also going so that he can fix his papers and try and do the renewals for a visa....But i really want to know what do i need and if it is hard for me to be able to live over there?

  1. You will not get use to it.

  2. You'll need a passport or birth certificate with a picture ID to return from Mexico. I love living in Mexico but just wish more GOOD Mexicans will return to help build the country. Depending on where you go, things aren't as clean and nice as the USA. In the past I left the keys in my car and never looked my front door but things has changed because most of the deported Mexicans  refuse to work and just look to steal to live. To live in Mexico you need a FM3 which is about $150 to $500 depending who does it. I've lived there on and off for 20 years and its just a matter of getting accustomed. It not like the USA where the Mexicans can take over an area. The Americans in Mexico need to live like the Mexicans or set up there own areas from scratch. If you wish to work there is not easy. Many jobs require you to be born there but you could start a business in you wifes name.

I married in Mexico 15 years ago and the US recognizes it as if it was a US marriage. Get married in Mexico so her family member can be there and your could always cross much easier.

  3. So you will actually be moving to live there. Every country is different. Everything has its up and its downs. The people are nice and kind and the food is the best. As long as you learn the language, you'll be fine. You will need proper documentation. Otherwise, you will be an illegal in Mexico.

  4. Actually, you will need a passport if you plan to enter back into the united states.  I would strongly suggest that you try to marry in Mexico and go to the American Embassy to start your process there.
