Question:

Question for Atheists and Christians?

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

I asked this question, Sincerely, on a scale of 1--10 how would you rate your happiness? to both Christians and Atheists.

I myself am a Christian fundie.

I had 25 concise answers from the Atheists

From the Christians I got preached to and snarled at.

The Atheists are happier than the Christians, and may I apologize because I have tasted the bitterness of my own?

To my brothers and sisters in Christ I ask you what is wrong?

With the hope we have in salvation our joy and happiness should aboud for all the world to see,Did our Lord die for us to be unhappy?

  1. right now.. only a 9.. i got a B on the last exam i had. maybe if i had prayed i would of got an A...

    sigh... life sucks.

  2. that is not entirely true, you had several concise answers from christians, and requests for more information.

tell the truth, not what you want others to believe.

  3. I would say an 8.  If it weren't for financial situations...I would be a 10.  I have a wonderful family, and I feel like I really have been Blessed.

  4. I suppose atheists are happier, because we have more fun.

  5. Both the ignorant and the wise can be happy, but the happiness of the wise will be based on wisdom, and the happiness of the ignorant will be based on their ignorance.

I would always prefer wisdom, as it brings lasting happiness. Oh, and wisdom, in this area, equals atheism.

  6. no we are to have Joy in our hearts.

Even when going through trials we can be joyful.

  7. Well, also know that there are a lot of impostors on this site. So consider your source.

I am blessed +10 because of the Joy in my heart.

    Ephesians 1:3

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.

  8. we lack perfection and we are not made of stone.  the world gets us all down.  those who have all the money in the world but can not add to their lifetime  are not happy. nor are politicians who need multiple partners. doctors unable to cure the common cold.   but those who know what is to come can rejoice.

  9. Our basic inner attitude (happiness / sadness) is more determined by biology and biochemistry than by our superficial intellectual convictions, whether theistic or not.

People's basic personality and approach to life does not change very much regardless of what ideology they subscribe to.

This doesn't mean that people can't go through powerful life-changing experiences and become transformed -- but they wrongly attribute the transformation to changing their intellectual conviction when in fact something much deeper is going on inside.

  10. Sometimes 5, sometimes 10. Almost always 10, I rarely get depressed.

It's hard finding a deeply religious person that doesn't fake a smile when I mention I'm Atheist.

Religion separates in my opinion, that's what once made me a non-religious theist. Which eventually led to my Atheism as I read more about religion.

  11. I would rate my happiness at a 10. I'm life's cheap date.  It doesn't take much to make me happy.  Hot water for my shower and air to breath are enough to make me smile.

  12. I said I was a 6 out of 10 in the happiness scale which is pretty good considering I have been at 1 many times in my life. If I was in heaven now, I would be a 10 but that will have to wait.

  13. Would you mind putting the link to your original question?

I'm very interested in seeing those answers.

  14. People have their own different perspectives, and the reason why people get so defensive right off the batt is just because no one wants to feel like they are wrong, or that their lifestyle or beliefs are unacceptable.  I mean, I would feel that way.  I feel that society has embedded into our minds that we should accept other people's "beliefs" and to be open, but I also feel that the world has forgotten the truth.  This is not an answer...nobody would want to see it otherwise anyway.  This is just how I feel (since that is all the world will allow me to do).  By the way, I am extremely happy to know that Jesus Christ has died on the cross for my sins, so that I have that hope of heaven.  The only thing I am sad about is that most people say they don't want that.

    I am  a Christian....and I am an 11!

  15. Couldn't be happier here my friend!

  16. Unfortunately I cannot answer your question because it really seems directed at christians.

  17. my life sinc birth has always been 5-9...depending on the days...i feel its good because i dont need to worry about going to h**l if i was a christian

  18. About 7 or 8 usually, sometimes lower but more often higher.

  19. Right now, 5, but I am having an awful week, and I'm a teenager ha ha.

For the most part, I am an 8. Life isn't perfect. I'm sure you know that.

    Religion doesn't bring happiness.

  20. 10. Before entering a monastery..... maybe a 7.

    Regards,

    Josemaria Rojas, OSB

  21. 9

  22. I don't think it's an issue of Christianity or Atheism. Committing sins eventually leads to misery, and just because someone believes does not mean that they do not commit sin. Not to mention that Christians are often tested, and that means that even when they do the right thing and don't sin they may have to suffer. Jesus was perfect yet he suffered severely. Job was also made to suffer, and his friends alienated him at the same time. Yet he remained faithful and was rewarded for it. So just because someone righteous struggles is not a sign that there is anything wrong with Christians in general.

  23. Used to be a believer, bored, but mostly happy...

    Now atheist...completely happy, never bored.

and before you make assumptions...this has nothing to do with my "supposed" sin...its simply a different perspective on life and my responsibility to own it.

  24. I've never been happier since I quit believing in religious nonsense.

  25. I would have to say right up there at 10 because I know my future is with Christ and it's because of him that I can have happiness and peace in this sinful world.

    Christian fundie)

edit: I never saw your other question.

  26. Praise the Lord I am very happy. God bless

  27. At the moment I am a ten because my cake came out perfectly and i ever have ice cream to go with it.

Its the little things in life like cake that me happy.

  28. Right now?

I'd rate it a 3...because I have the flu and I'm freezing cold!

Usually I'd rate it a solid 8 or 9,depending on my mood really.

  29. Perhaps it's easier to be happy when you view troubles in your life as problems which can be overcome by your own actions, rather than worrying if it's some sort of punnishment or waiting for some devine intervention, as an atheist I feel I have more control over my life and that I have no one else to blame for my mistakes but myself, I can learn from them and move on.  I can find a way to sort my problems out, or learn to live with them, the choice is mine:)

    I wish you happiness:)

  30. 10 I love my religion, its those people that don't believe that bring me down so I don't listen to them anymore

  31. I'm pretty damned happy, in general. Elated fairly often.

I appreciate your question, and your honesty, and wish you the best.

    Oh, and I'm an atheist.
