If you are an American citizen and are interested in moving to australia permanently is this possible or would you have to marry someone there? Also, does it help if your speciality is in the medical field? (Anesthesiologist)

  1. immigration is a long and expensive process but if your a skilled worker in a field Australia needs you can apply for a skilled worker visa. There is a points test you must pass and a medical and criminal check also

    points test  http://www.visabureau.com/australia/onli...

  2. We're not a dodgy country where people marry to live here.

You can move here permanently but there is a long process involved. Medical fields are in high demand in Australia and would enable you to enter as a skilled worker and maybe even receive a sponsorship. http://www.immi.gov.au has all the legalities. If you don't mind working in rural areas for a few years it will be even easier, there are large incentives for all medical staff to go bush.

  3. Mate if you have a medical background or training to should not be to hard to a work visa into Australia, without marriage it would be a gas to have you.

  4. We are desperately crying out for for qualified doctors especially if you are willing to live in a country town ,you do not need to marry anyone to live here ,but if you want my daughter is single (but only if you really are a doctor) ha ha

  5. just get a working visa and after a few years apply for permanent residency. Australia's taking in heaps of doctors , no you don't need to marry someone here.

  6. Australia is very short of doctors in most fields and an anesthesiologist (we call them anaesthetists) is one of the specific medical specialities listed as being needed.

For all information regarding visas, registration, contact information for medical recruitment agencies etc. go to http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/medical-p...

You won't need to marry an Australian to become a permanent resident - a number of the visa types available to medical practitioners lead to PR status.

  7. okkies its not as easy as ppl are saying it is. my hubbies american and it took almost a year and over $10,000 of paperwork and lawyer fees to do.

yes if you have a skill its a little easier but not much and the process will take some time 6-12 months. you may want to come to oz or a working visa to see if you like it then go from there. especially if you find a business who is willing to sponsor you in that time it will cut on costs and paper work may take some time but your alreay here and working so who cares.

but australia isnt a walk in the park to get into, they will doule check your criminal record (gotta be perfect) your health (they don't let all overweight ppl in so ppl with health conditions it will be hard for) and you gotta have money in the bank and i do not meant $500 i mean thosands depending on which visa ect you want to get into oz with.

even after you have decided to live here you become whats known as a permanent resident. then you must stay in australia for 3 years and then only can you become a citizen and loose your american citizenship as america doesnt like you have dual. although you eva go back to america with a aussie cit. and apply for an american one you get a dual cit. crazy laws. my hubbie is just staying a permanent resident for the rest of his life. easier.

    good luck
