Question:

Question for Black Guys & Girls...?

I'm sorry if this sounds racist or stupid, but I was reading an article by a black woman some time ago which said that black people often call white women 'Beckys'. I also found that here:

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=becky

But I've never heard that, and I live in a mostly black area. I won't get offended or anything by your answers, but I'm just wondering how common this is? Is it a reference to Becky Thatcher from Tom Sawyer?

Thanks in advance, and I hope I didn't sound dumb!

  1. I'm black, have lived around black people all my life and I've never heard "Beckys" used as a racial epithet for white women.  Maybe it is old slang used before my time.

  2. Hm..I've never heard that either. I'm interested to see answers.

  3. I have never heard that until now...but what I did see when I looked it up was that it is commonly used for a white female that dates black men.

  4. I'm black and never heard that before. So I can't explain it to you, sorry.

  5. Yes. Every single black girl and every single black boy uses that term , actually on a daily basis. Do you know why? Because unlike white people, who are individuals, black people are all telepathically linked and speak and act the same way all the time. Dont you read CNN.com articles? They have figured out what is WRONG with non-whites and why they are genetically inferior than the holy white man.

  6. I'm black and I've never heard that in my community AT ALL. That woman who wrote that is most likely a poser. She probably has lost touch with her cultural idenity a long time ago and is simply trying to profit off of what she herself has merely heard. That's stupid!

  7. I'm Black and I've never heard that term before. That's probably coming from that particular woman and perhaps a small group of her personal friends.

  8. Never heard of it before. But from the name, it prob is just because mostly white people have the name Becky. Black people don't read Tom Sawyer, so that's definetly NOT it.

    Hope I didn't offend anyone..i'm nice, promise!

  9. I've never ever heard of that

  10. I've heard that term before one of my friends made the statement referring to "white girl" "becky". But it caught me off guard, because i never heard of it. But u know some white people say "Bonequesha", referring to black girls because we tend name our children crazy names like that. But don't take it personal its nothing really bad behind it. But if does offend you let the person know that it offends u if its coming from an friend

  11. It usually use when black man is dating white woman. But u know that that is use a lot in stand up routines when referring to white woman, and they my say "shanekqua" referring to black women.
