Question for California only: Can I have 4 names on my drivers license, or is there a space limit on that?

This would be first name, 2 middle and one last name.

  1. I suggest looking at the DL app on the DMV website.  See how many spaces there are, like Peeplepup said, and see what you can fit in there.  

    I don't thing the number of names is the issue, just how many letters.


  2. Most places do not have the space for 4 names.  I know here, if your name were "Thomas Johnathon Harold Smith", you could have "Thomas Johnathon Smith", or Thomas Harold Smith", or Thomas J H Smith" actually show on the licence.  They may be able to enter the whole name in the computer, but the spaces on the document do not always equal the spaces in the database.

  3. Interesting question.  To the right of your name and address is a smaller image of your photograph.  21 letters or spaces fill fit without intruding into the space occupied by this image. It is  just a guess, but I would assume that you would be limited to those 21 spaces.
