  1. That's true, God is not a man. But God became a man for the purpose of our salvation.

  2. Numbers 23:19 is Old Testament and what it is saying is that unlike man, God doesn't lie and doesn't renege on his promises. The verse has nothing to do with Jesus.

Adam was the Son of God, yes. In 1 Corinthians it says: "The first man was of the dust of the Earth, the second man from heaven. As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the Earth; and as is the man from heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven."

  3. Some of us do not so live that we can get in our hearts the assurance, born of the Spirit, that the course we are pursuing accords with divine standards. But now let us look at these three things: the character, perfections, and attributes of Deity. In the Prophet's language, here is God's character: "We learn the following things respecting the character of God: First, that he was God before the world was created, and the same God that he was after it was created. Second, that he is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, abundant in goodness, and that he was so from everlasting to everlasting (Ps. 103:6-8, 17, 18). Third, that he changes not, neither is there variableness with him; but that he is the same from everlasting to everlasting, being the same yesterday, today, and forever; and that his course is one eternal round, without variation (James 1:17; D&C 3:2; 35:1; Mal. 4:6; Morm. 9:9). Fourth, that he is a God of truth and cannot lie (Num. 23:19; Ps. 31:5; Deut. 32:4). Fifth, that he is no respecter of persons; but in every nation he that fears God and works righteousness is accepted of him (Acts 10:34-35). Sixth, that he is love" (1 John 4:8, 16; John 3:16

Luke 3:38. Adam, which was the son of God] This statement, found also in Moses 6:22, has a deep and profound significance and also means what it says. Father Adam came, as indicated, to this sphere, gaining an immortal body, because death had not yet entered the world. (2 Ne. 2:22.) Jesus, on the other hand, was the Only Begotten in the flesh, meaning into a world of mortality where death already reigned.

We all came from the same mold, and finally that genealogy runs back to Adam, of whom the scriptures said, " was the son of God" (Luke 3:38). It's marvelous, isn't it? We just want to remember our parentage, that it goes right back through the stream of time to Adam, with one great divine step from there back to the fatherhood of God. And you can go to Him. He wants you to. Paul said to the Hebrews, "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." (Hebrews 4:15-16.)

  4. In Numbers, it says God is not man that he should lie, nor a son of man that he should change his mind.

That just means that God doesn't lie or change his mind because he is not like us.

In Luke, Adam being the son of God means that he didn't have any human parents; he was created by God.

  5. Numbers 23:19

"God is not a man, that He should lie,

    Nor a son of man, that He should repent;

Has He said, and will He not do it?

Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?"

That means He was not born of sinful man, so He doesn't lie,(or any other sin for that matter) so He doesn't need to repent.  He didn't inherit a sinful nature.  He was the Son of God.  The rest says what He says He will do, He will do.

Luke 3:38 is the genealogy that shows once again that Joseph was not Jesus' earthly father, but was born of a virgin, and the Son of God.

  6. The first verse you mention, I have marked in my Bible and have pondered over it several times.

You should read it in context; this done, it will be seen that God is not 'man,' that He  should 'lie.' Balaam is a foil for God constantly shifting, prevaricating, equivocating, changing; a prime example of the distinction between God and man. In other words; God is constant and does not change, man does.

The second verse; in a 'genealogy' of Jesus, to Adam. Yes Adam is a son of God.

  7. The verse should read: God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?

It means that God is not like us. he does not lie. He does not change His mind. He says what he means and means what he says. He keeps His promises.

Adam is a son of God as all who trust in Him are. We are all adopted into His family. Only Jesus is a begotten Son (His own Seed).

  8. i agreed how many sons does god have?

  9. there are several places in the bible where a prophet (other than jesus), clergy, citizen and even inanimate objects are refferred to as the son of god!

  10. In the youngs Literal translation Numbers 23:19 God not a man-and lieth, and a son of man-and repenteth.

In the King james bible it reads; God is not a man that he should lie, nor the son of man that he should ask repentance.

Adam is called a son of God not the son of God.  Adam had no geneaology before him because God created him as the first of mankind.  Jesus is the only begotten son of God. Begotten tells us Jesus is unique.  Jesus is Gods son.  Mankind are Gods children but not in the family sense.  God is Jesus father in the very personal sense.  When Jesus calls to his father in the gospels he actually says the word "abba" which is arabic for "daddy".  So Jesus relationship with God was much more personal since he was Gods only begotten.

  11. Hello, Well I just read Numbers 23:19  and it says; God is not a man that he should lie, Nor a son of man that he should repent. Has he said and will He not do it? Or has he spoken , and will he not make it good?

    - This scripture is just saying that whatever God says will happen. It must come to pass. When it speaks about the son of man that he should repent is saying that God of the heavens and earth is not a son of man. Mind Jesus had not come down to earth yet.

In Luke 3:38 it just means that Jesus is the son of Adam. Due to the fact that Adam is the first man on earth. Then Jesus coming in the flesh after him was the son of all of these people. It was just naming the genealogy of Jesus Christ. (His descendants)

  12. Hi =]

Well, Jesus is the SON of God. It is a mystery of Christianity.

Also, I am not sure about the second one.... how odd.... but I think we are all Sons and Daughters of God. SO therefor, he would be one too as well? I'm not sure...

  13. Wrong interpretation on the first question, yes on the second,we all are God's sons or daughters.

  14. 23:19 is describing God and what He can not do. God can not lie like man so therefore, God does not need to repent.

we are all children of God. so yes, Adam is one of God's children.

  15. Jesus is not God.  Mk. 13:32 clearly shows that Jesus is not the Omniscient God.  It is false Christian doctrine to say that Jesus being equal in form with God means that he is totally equal to God as Mk. 13:32 proves.

  16. No that is not what it is saying.

Numbers 23:19  God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

Its not saying god would never become a man. It is saying God does not lie like man does. God is not full of Sin as the sons of men, that he needs to repent which means change.

Adam was created as are all of we. we are in a manner of speaking sons of God or men created to resemble God physically.

  17. Numbers 23:19 is showing that God does not have the human fault of lying or changing His mind. It is not speaking in reference to Jesus, as it is not prophecy.

In Luke, the context is in genealogy.  It calls Adam the son of God, because rather than being born like the humans after him, Adam was created by God directly.

  18. Okay I read those verse and they don't say that..
