....Question for Dads?

Okay, rewind back. Wayyy back, to about 8 or 9 years old. How old is a boy when he first starts getting spontaneous erections he can't explain? Is he scared when this first starts happening? Does he think he is a freak? Does he worry about normalcy? I'm guessing this isn't a conversation/question the boy will initiate, but rather, keep it to themselves, right? Did your dad talk to you and tell you what might be happening (or what you can expect) as your body changes? If so, was that a relief to hear? If not, do you wish he did? What will you do with your son? Talk to him or is this something every boy figures out on his own? I don't mind letting him figure it out (and it wouldn't be me anyway it'd be his father), but I don't want him to go through x-months of being freaked out.

Different from a s*x talk. He's not old enough or mature enough for that yet.

  1. "when he first starts getting spontaneous erections he can't explain?"  As an infant. You just throw a cloth diaper over it and keep going.

At 8 or 9, it's time to start talking about s*x.  You don't need to go into the graphic instructions about put tab A into slot B, etc.,,, but if he is hanging out with older boys, or his buddies have older brothers, he is going to be getting hit with stuff that he doesn't know.

How does your 8 or 9 year old react?  Can you take clues from him about what needs to be told and not told?

I was just very matter of fact with my son.... it happens, it happens to everyone, people will laugh at you if you are inappropriate with it, so learn what to do with, when it happens in inappropriate places.

Lucky for me, his buddies were pretty much idiots, and acted like idiots and talked like idiots,,,,so I had plenty of good compairisons.

One of the fools even got caught manipulating himself to completion in his math class, DURING CLASS.  I asked my son if he learned anything from this, hoping to hear that inappropirate place time speach,,, instead I got,,,, "one more reason that you don't eat the gum off the bottom of the desk."

    KIDS,,,,,

  2. When I was a boy and had my first erection I didn't know what was happening and when with out any help from me I just ejaculated which freaked me out wondering what it was, back when I was a kid talking about s*x or that sort of thing was taboo, so I had to learn things on my own, when I become a dad my self which I have four kids three boys and a girl from the very first  time the kids would ask anything about their body or s*x the wife and I would tell them just enough to satisfy their curiosity and as they asked more in depth questions we would tell them, we didn't want them growing up afraid of their own bodies or hearing the wrong information from others, but it turned out that our kids because they were never hidden from the truth that they have a clean healthy understanding of their bodies and any ones else's. hope this has helped .
