Question for Daycare center/summer camp owners, how much does your daycare insurance cost each month?

I am looking into starting a summer camp type daycare next summer. I am writing up a cost summary and I have no clue what the average price for insurance is. I am looking for like the insurance that covers injuries, accidents, accident while on field trips/bus and like when you get sued for these injuries and stuff. I do not need to average cost of insurance for the building or vehicles. Any help as to how much is an average cost, or what the correct title to what I am looking for is, I have found it to be called just Daycare insurance, is there another name or does it depend on the company? Also what is your insurance price dependent on (# of kids, size of facility, age of the kids, etc.). Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you so much.

  1. I've written insurance on a bunch of these.

It doesn't work the way you are assuming.  First of all, you can't pay for it "by the month".

Second, coverage for campers injuries is one policy; employees/staff is another policy; the liability you need to rent the camp, or if you get sued, is a third policy.

You're looking for the group accident, workers comp, and general liability policies.  Sexual abuse or molestation defense costs, or corporal punishment defense costs, are a seperate policy. The accident policy is rated on the number and age of kids, number of days camp is in session, and if there are any water activities.  Workers comp is rated on payroll, and liability can be rated on just about anything from kids, to hours of camp, to payroll, to gross sales - it depends on which company you end up with.

Lastly, all of these policies have a MINIMUM PREMIUM - in other words, even if you have coverage for two days, there's a minimum charge for the policy.  For the group accident, it's likely going to be $750; for the workers comp, $500, and for the general liability, $1,000.  MINIMUM.  It will only go up from there, depending on activities, how many days, payroll, gross sales, number of kids, etc.

It's NOT a 'daycare liability' policy; those are for indoor buildings that ONLY do daycare for a liabiltiy exposure.

If you run camp for four weeks, under 100 campers, it's going to run you about $2500.

  2. you are starting summercamp to raise money what will you of that money it is your outlook, for any business insurance is must. For insurance age and fitness are considered

  3. You can't get an estimate here. You need to call an insurance agent. Your church probably has an insurance policy in place. The church needs to acquire the insurance, and you should call the church insurance broker to coordinate coverage. The broker will tell you what you need, and the costs. Also, you need to let the Broker know if you will be renting space from the church, and if you are actually operating the camp as an individual. That means that you need to be covered, as well as the church. There are many different components to this type of business coverage.
